Why do men grunt?

Why do men grunt so much when they workout?!?  I just got home from the gym and I know I already posted today but I just couldn't get over the amount of men that were grunting as they lifted weights.  I could even hear them through my ipod, which is usually turned up pretty loud.  I mean what is the grunting all about?  Is it feel more manly or are they really in that much pain?

I don't get it.  For some reason I don't see a lot of women grunting in the gym.  To be honest I am not even sure I can make the grunting noise that comes out of these dudes mouths.  Hmph!  Just something to ponder.

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Hump Day!  It's that much closer to the weekend for all my working friends out there.  I know my time will come next Monday (ugh) when the alarm will start to go off at 5:15 again every morning.  Oh the joys of being a teacher!
So a quick little update on the session with the personal trainer yesterday.  Wow did he kick my butt!  We sat down and discussed goals, take my body fat percentage, and went over the areas to work on.  So my goal for 2011 is to lose 8 pounds of fat and gain 6 pounds of muscle.  That would bring my body fat percentage down to 12%, which would be amazing! :)  The workout went well and the trainer def. worked the areas that I said I wanted to work on toning.  Now I have some exercises that I can use on my own.  I wish I had enough money to hire a personal trainer just for me once/twice a week.  Unfortunately, I can't spend 100 + bucks on that.  Do you have a trainer?  Have you used them? I heard that they are totally worth the money but I just can't find it in the budget to fork over that kind of money monthly. :/ I'll have to try it on my own first!

On a complete opposite note...how do you feel about the wall decor stickers?

Are you a fan?  I have one above our master bed that says "Always Kiss me Goodnight" and I have thought about purchasing one for the kitchen and one for above our entertainment system in the living room.  I don't know if that would be too much or if it would look cute.  I like the quotes instead of the pictures, I think. Your thoughts?

The Lose Weight Smoothie

For all of my fellow New Years Resolution makers, I have a fabulous recipe for you!  Ok, if you are like me and are trying to lose a little bit of weight or tone up a bit then this recipe is fabulous.  A big thank you to my sister in-law who works out constantly and eats these smoothies like crazy!  She doesn't have all the responsibilities that most adults have so we just have to put working out and our diets into our schedules the best way we can!
Have you tried any of these smoothies?

Well....yes they are all yummy but sometimes they aren't the best for you!  Try the recipe below for a fabulous smoothie that will completely curb your appetite for the day.  I usually have one for breakfast every morning (ok honestly...I need to get back to having them everyday. Today was Day 1!)  I tried having one for breakfast and lunch but I got a headache so, I decided on just one a day.

Lost Weight Smoothies
Ingredients:
-2 bananas (cut up)
-2 apples (cut up with skin left on)
-1/4 bottle of Pure Protein Shake (vanilla cream flavor)
-1 6 oz container of Yoplait Greek Yogurt (plain flavor)
-1/2 cup of oatmeal
-2 tbsp peanut butter (whipped and creamy)
-1 handful of almonds
-3 scoops of Flax (organic)
-ice (however much you want)

Put it all together for a great tasting smoothie!  One thing that I do is mix bit by bit instead of all at once because then it will take FOREVER and possibly break the blender! (my SIL broke like 3) You can also use different fruits too.  Use whatever tastes good to you! :)
Give it a try and see if you like it!  It really fills you up and you won't want to snack throughout the day!
Until later,
XOXO

I found THE ONE!

As we approach 2011, I can't help but think of things that I want to improve for the upcoming year.  Usually you hear of people wanting to lose weight, eat better, work out, etc.  In the past I have always thought, "How cliche" BUTTT...not this year!  All of those are my goals for 2011!  I used to be a member of the YMCA and after a little incident with the front desk woman I decided it wasn't the best place for the whole "work out experience".  No offense to all the Y go-ers! :)
So after taking some time off from the gym (more like a year - thanks to graduate school) I decided I need to get back in there and tone up.  Everyone says you kinda let yourself go after you get married and comfortable.  I don't want that to be me so I decided I HAVE TO GET BACK TO WORKING OUT, no ifs, ands, or buts!
So I searched high and low today for gyms that were close by my house and I found THE ONE!
I am now a member of Sports Fitness and it is right around the corner from my house.  I got the special teacher deal, which made the price even that much better.  Only $17.99 a month!  I think that is a pretty good price, at least I tell myself that.
I worked out today for a good bit and I feel a-mazing!  I went on the elliptical machine and the stair stepper and then headed upstairs to the Cardio Funk class!  I had a lot of fun at the class and everyone was super friendly.  I can't wait to go back and get into the swing of things.  In fact I have a personal trainer session tomorrow at 4:00.  I am a little nervous about it though because I have never met with a personal trainer before..so keep your fingers crossed that it will go well!
Until later,
XOXO

The snow hates me

Yesterday I got to enjoy the snow that fell over North Carolina!  It was beautiful and it made for a white Christmas here in the South!  The yards are still covered white and I can smell the fires burning in everyone's fireplace.  I love it - getting to be all cuddled up on the couch watching old movies, drinking hot cocoa, and enjoying the view!

The hubs and I out front

Playing in the yard

Although all the snow is beautiful....I wasn't actually supposed to enjoy it!  :(  For Christmas one of the things my husband bought me was a plane ticket to fly down to Florida to see my family (parents, sister, & grents)  I was supposed to leave yesterday morning but, as you can guess...it didn't happen!  I got to the airport an hour before the plane was supposed to leave, said goodbye to the hubs, and headed through security and to my gate.  That was the first step of flying alone. Check!  I got to my gate only to find out the flight was delayed and moved to another gate.  So I waited patiently & actually met a new friend that is going to the college I graduated from.  We boarded the plane about an hour late and I thought things were smooth sailing.  Welp..I was wrong again.  We sat in the terminal for awhile and then pulled out a little bit...

We sat in the plane not moving for almost three hours.  They brought us back to the terminal since it is against the law to keep passengers on a not-moving plane for three hours or more.  Apparently they still needed to de-ice the plane then about 30 minutes later they announced that the de-ice truck broke down.  THEN...as if that wasn't enough they announced that there was not anymore liquid for the de-icing trucks left in the entire city.  Are you joking me?!?  So anyways...we pulled back to the terminal and I got off the plane.  No worries- I got the plane ticket reimbursed so no one was out anything.  I think the plane finally took off around 1:45ish...I was NOT sitting on the plane that long only to get to the connection flight that had already taken off hours before (without me!) to wait in Atlanta with everyone else that was mad at the airlines.  Nope, no thank you, not how I want to spend vacation.
So needless to say...I will see my family when they return and I will make time to go down and visit the grandparents when the weather feels like cooperating! Until then, I guess I'll have to do some after Christmas shopping and enjoy the snow! :)

Since I've Been Gone...

Guess who is back?!?!
I had to close down my old Pinkture Perfect account thanks to lovely hackers who apparently loved my email account & blog account! Yikes!  Hopefully it is all closed down and the problems won't continue!  Ok, and honestly I have been CRAZY busy since August so I have not been able to even sit down and do a blog post!  Now that I have time over the holiday break & graduate school is about over (only six more weeks!!!!) I am ready to get back into the blogging scene and catch up with old friends! :)
Since there has been SO much going on, I decided to just do a little picture re-cap of what has been going on with my life lately...

Hiking w/ Mason

Panther's Games (forget about the fact that they have the WORST record in the NFL)

Christmas Parties

Hosting Thanksgiving at our house

There have been lots of other fun things going on in our household and I will spend some time catching you all up!  I am excited for it to be Christmas Eve and of course for tomorrow!!!!
My family is in Florida for the holidays and I am at home with the hubby and the in-laws.  It is the FIRST time in my entire life that I haven't been with my family.  It is a little emotional for me but, I think it'll be ok!  I have convinced my in-laws to come to church tonight and then our tradition of going out to dinner afterwards!  I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas Eve!
XOXO
P.S. So excited to be back in the blogging world!!!!
